Roger Collins Roger grew up learning the work songs of the coal regions of Pennsylvania, and the traditional Celtic music of his family and the people of the area. He moved about the country ending in Maryland for many years and presently West Virginia. Along with learning how to play the bodhran he learned a bit about shipbuilding and sailing. This provided him with the opportunity to develop a love for the shanties and work song of the sea and the seafaring life. The bodhran became a natural accompaniment for these strong hard driven songs. Over the years Roger has incorporated the Celtic influences with his love of the sea and it’s music. |
